On September 11, 1932, Polish aviators Stanisław Wigura and Franciszek Żwirko tragically died in a plane crash in Czechoslovakia.
These renowned Polish sport and military aviators had recently achieved a significant victory in the international Challenge 1932 air contest, flying a Polish RWD-6 aircraft.
This marked the first major international success for Polish sports aviation.
