Władysław Kuncewicz

 Retro Swimming

On October 23, 1888, Władysław Kuncewicz was born, a captain of the Polish Army and the first Polish swimmer to participate in the Olympic Games (1928).

In the 1920s, he was considered one of the best Polish swimmers. He held 13 Polish records in freestyle: 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m.

He was the Polish champion in the 100m freestyle (1924–1928).

After retiring from his competitive career in 1929, he became actively involved in promoting swimming in Poland. He was a strong advocate for universal swimming education in schools.
