On October 23, 1888, Władysław Kuncewicz was born, a captain of the Polish Army and the first Polish swimmer to participate in the Olympic Games (1928).
In the 1920s, he was considered one of the best Polish swimmers. He held 13 Polish records in freestyle: 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m.
He was the Polish champion in the 100m freestyle (1924–1928).
