Wacław Sierpiński, whose birth anniversary also falls today, as he was born on March 14, 1882, is remembered for his contributions to the development of mathematical analysis and number theory, among other fields. However, he is most famously associated with a fractal known as the Sierpiński Triangle.

It is estimated that thanks to the work of Polish scientists, it was possible to achieve an information advantage over the Germans during World War II, which significantly contributed to the victory of the Allies.
