The Wisłoujście Fortress is the oldest coastal fortress of the Polish seacoast. In the modern times, it is often called the Gate to the Republic of Poland. The impressive fortification protected ships on their way to the port of Gdańsk. It also played the function of a lighthouse, the berthing site of the Polish fleet, and a prison.
The branch is closed till 2024 due to restoration works.
Wisłoujście Fortress, taking its name from the Vistula River mouth where it is situated, is one of the most outstanding examples of military architecture in Poland, its spatial layout, technical and engineering solutions and location making it a site of truly exceptional value.
