May 29, 1926: Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of York was baptized in Buckingham Palace's private chapel by The Archbishop of York, Cosmo Gordon Lang. The future Queen had seven godparents - including her grandparents Their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary and Their Royal Highnesses Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Princess Mary, Viscountess Lascelles. Within ten years her father The Duke of York became King George VI and the little Princess first in line to the throne.
