Będzin castle a medieval defensive stronghold erected in the mid-fourteenth century by Casimir the Great in the system of the so-called Eagles' Nests in Małopolska, 4.5 km from the border with Silesia, on a hill above the Czarna Przemsza River ; destroyed many times, rebuilt in 1956. The history of fortifications in Będzin dates back to the 9th century. Already then, a stronghold was erected on the Castle Hill , probably belonging to the Vistula tribe or its western branch.
